Five years ago we started a community basketball tournament in Washington Heights, NYC (a.k.a. ‘The Heights’) to honor a very special individual. Since its first tournament, The Carlos M. Perez Memorial B-Ball Tournament has raised close to $40,000 for local scholarships and blossomed into a non-profit organization called “Achieving Heights.” The next The Carlos M. Perez Memorial B-Ball Tournament will take place on Saturday July 23rd, 2011 at Cabrini Park in Washington Heights (at 190th St).
The Carlos M. Perez Memorial Tournament is a festive, family, community event that features boys and girls B-ball teams of all ages and at every level –playing in the games is open to anyone able to make a donation. All proceeds fund local scholarships in Washington Heights.
Achieving Heights’ mission is to use sports as a vehicle to educate, empower, and inspire city-youth in the Upper Manhattan area of NYC. We produce sports and fashion-related events that benefit local schools, students, and families.
